Vuelta 2025 Favourites stage 20: Bola del Mundo set for GC showdown

Jonas Vingegaard cdd - Vuelta 2025 Favourites stage 20:foto: Cor VosThe last chance to shake up the GC comes in a brutal mountain stage with 4,226 metres of climbing across 165.6 kilometres. The finish line lies atop a 12.3-kilometre ascent averaging 8.6%.

Adding extra spice, the final 3.2 kilometres rise at a punishing 12.2%. So, that’s the perfect setting for a grand finale.

Let’s hope the GC battle is still wide open when the riders clip into their pedals in Robledo de Chavela, before tackling the Alto de la Escondida (9 kilometres at 4.1%), Puerto de la Paradilla (5.8 kilometres at 5.4%), Alto del León (7 kilometres at 7.3%) and the Puerto de Navacerrada on the way to the Bola del Mundo.

The Puerto de Navacerrada features twice: first as a 6.9-kilometre climb at 7.6%, then again at 9.1 kilometres with an average gradient of 7.3%. The second time, there’s no descent, but the road continues straight onto the Bola del Mundo, where a savage 3.2-kilometre ramp at 12.2% awaits.
