Giro 2025: Route and stages

Simon Yates won the 108th edition of the Giro d’Italia after a successful coup in the last mountain stage. Isaac Del Toro and Richard Carapaz completed the podium alongside the Brit. The 2025 Giro covered 3,443 kilometres and featured 52,350 metres of climbing, while there were 42.3 ITT kilometres on the menu.

Rome - Rome

Sunday, 1 June – The final stage of the Giro is a circuit race in Rome. After an out-and-back trip to the Tyrrhenian Sea, the route continues in front of roaring city crowds on eight identical laps of 9.5 kilometres. It's an entirely flat affair.

The Route

The 108th Giro d’Italia started on Friday, 9 May in Albania and finished on Sunday, 1 June in Rome. The race covered a total of 3,443 kilometres and included 52,350 metres of elevation gain. Over 42 kilometres of time trialling were on the menu, while the Colle delle Finestre proved decisive on the penultimate day.

Durazzo - Tirana

Friday, 9 May – The Giro d’Italia kicks off with a 160-kilometre race featuring three climbs. The Surrel is tackled twice, as it is part of the finishing circuit. The Surrel ascends 6.9 kilometres at an average gradient of 4.6%, followed by an 11.3-kilometre descent to the finish line.

Tirana - Tirana

Saturday, 10 May – The 2nd stage of the Giro is a 13.7-kilometre individual time trial in the Albanian capital, Tirana. The riders face a 1.2 kilometre-climb at 5.7% midway through the route.

Valona – Valona

Sunday, 11 May – Stage 3 of the Giro d’Italia takes the riders on a loop from Vlorë to Vlorë. Over the 160-kilometre route, they face 2,800 metres of elevation gain. The toughest ascent is the Llogara Pass – 10.7 kilometres long at an average gradient of 7.4%, with the summit coming just under 39 kilometres from the finish.
