The 105th edition of the Volta a Catalunya will start on Monday 23 March and finish on Sunday 29 March, as always on the familiar Montjuïc circuit in Barcelona. There are three summit finishes — in Vallter (11 kilometres at 7.6%), at the Sanctuary of Queralt (6 kilometres at 7.2%) and on the Coll de Pal (20 kilometres at 6.6%) — complemented by hilly stages and opportunities for the sprinters. With the inaugural edition held in 1911, the Volta a Catalunya is the oldest race on the cycling calendar, after the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia. (Slideshow route/profile)
Primoz Rogliw won the previous edition after a gripping battle with Juan Ayuso, while Enric Mas completed the podium.
