Edition 61 of the Tirreno-Adriatico starts on Monday 9 March on the Tyrrhenian coast. The race features seven stages and is set to finish on Sunday the 15th, obviously on the Adriatic coast. The Race of the Two Seas dates back to 1966. Usually, the race takes in a mix of time trials, chances for fast men, hilly races, and one big challenge in the high mountains.
An important race in itself, the Tirreno-Adriatico also reveals who the on form riders are before the first major classic of the season, Milan-San Remo.
Juan Ayuso won last year’s edition ahead of Filippo Ganna and Antonio Tiberi.
