Mads Vuelta 2026: Points classificationfoto: Cor VosWho’ll succeed Mads Pedersen as the winner of the points classification in the Vuelta a España? The Dane won the green jersey in the last previous editions way ahead of Jonas Vingegaard and Jasper Philipsen.

The points for the green jersey are awarded at finishes and intermediate sprints. The amount of points for the last category are always the same, while the finish points vary with the kind of terrain of a particular stage. Most points are given in the flat stages, followed by medium mountain and high mountain/ITT.

The distribution of points in La Vuelta is as follows:

Maximum amounts of points: 50 – 30 – 20 – 18 – 16 – 14 – 12 – 10 – 8 – 7 – 6 – 5 – 4 – 3 – 2

Medium amount of points: 30 – 25 – 22 – 19 – 17 – 15 – 13 – 11 – 9 – 7 – 6 – 5 – 4 – 3 – 2

Minimum amount of points: 20 – 17 – 15 – 13 – 11 – 10 – 9 – 8 – 7 – 6 – 5 – 4 – 3 – 2 – 1

Amount of points in intermediate sprints (all stages, except ITTs): 20 – 17 – 15 – 13 – 10
