Giro 2026: KOM Classification

You can follow the fight for the blue jersey from Friday 8 May, when the Giro starts in Bulgaria.

The distribution of mountain points in the Giro d’Italia is straightforward. The highest climb on the route, the Cima Coppi, offers the largest haul of points, followed by summit finishes on 1st-category climbs. Being first over a 1st-category climb remains highly rewarding, while the points awarded for other summits gradually decrease in value.

The distribution of points in the KOM competition of the Giro d'Italia is as follows:

Cima Coppi: 50 - 30 - 20 - 14 - 10 - 6 - 4 - 2 - 1
1st category, summit finish: 50 – 24 – 16 – 10 – 6 – 4 – 2 – 1
1st category: 40 - 18 - 12 - 9 - 6 - 4 - 2 - 1
2nd category: 18 - 8 - 6 - 4 - 2 - 1
3rd category: 9 - 4 - 2 - 1
4th category: 3 - 2 - 1

The Cima Coppi is awarded on the highest point in the entire route.
