The Critérium du Dauphiné has undergone a name change. Billed as the Tour of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the 78th edition will start on Sunday 7 June and finish on the 14th. The race takes place in the Dauphiné region, located in the southeast of France. First held in 1947, it serves as a key warm-up event for the Tour de France. The route often features Alpine climbs that are also familiar from La Grande Boucle.
Tadej Pogacar took victory in last year’s edition, notching three stage wins along the way. Jonas Vingegaard and Florian Lipowitz completed the podium alongside the world champion, just like the following month later in the Tour de France.
