Giro 2025 Route stage 4: Alberobello – Lecce

Giro d'Italia 2025Tuesday, 13May - After three days in Albania, the peloton crosses into the heel of the Italian boot. On a mostly flat stage of 187 kilometres, the riders sweep down the entire heel, heading for the Giro’s first bunch sprint.

The sprinters in this year’s Giro have had a rough start – the first three days were all about time trials and rugged terrain. There was no room for speedsters on those Albanian hills. That all changes on home soil, as the peloton heads south from Alberobello to Lecce. The heel of the boot is sure to see fierce battles between sprint trains, with sprinters chomping at the bit after days of frustration.

Alberobello hosted a Giro finish for the first time in 2022, with Caleb Ewan taking the win. Lecce, on the other hand, is no stranger to charging pelotons, with legends like Alessandro Petacchi and Mario Cipollini topping the winner’s list here.

It’s safe to say this stage is built for a bunch sprint. A lone and unimposing 4th-category climb early on won’t do much to derail the fast men’s ambitions.
