The Grande Partenza of the 108th edition of the Giro d’Italia takes place on Friday 9 May in Albania. All races in the Balkan country are far from flat, with the 3rd stage standing out with an elevation gain of 2,800 metres. Back on home soil, the Giro travels from the south to the north, with stages including unpaved (Strade Bianche) roads before the final week serves up brutal climbs such as the Passo Mortirolo and Colle delle Finestre. The Giro ends in Rome on Sunday 1 June.
