The full route of the 2024 Vuelta a España will be revealed on the 19th of December.

The opening stage will be an individual time trial in front of roaring city crowds on a flat route between Lisbon and coastal town Oeiras. Stage 2 then travels north from Cascais to Ourem, while stage 3 starts in Lousa to finish in Castello Branco. La Vuelta returns to home soil on the fourth day of action, possibly for a finish in the remote region of Extremadura.

According to rumours the race will include a finish climb to the Lagos de Covadonga, while the return of the Cuitu Negru has also been mentioned. This 20 kilometres long climb goes up at double digits in the last 3 kilometres. Dario Cataldo took the win there in 2012.

The Spanish Grand Tour is the least geographical adventurous of all Grand Tours. It will be the fifth foreign Big Start – after Lissabon, Portugal (1997); Assen, Netherlands (2009); Nîmes, France (2017); and Utrecht, Netherlands (2022).
