Vuelta 2024 Route stage 7: Archidona – Córdoba
Peter Sagan (2011), John Degenkolb (2014) en Magnus Cort (2021) - they all glorified in the streets of Córdoba, respectively in 2011, 2014 and 2021. In a more distant past Oscar Freire, Tom Boonen and Paolo Bettini also celebrated in the city with the highest summer temperatures in Europe.
The race in the deep south of Spain is played out on undulating terrain before the only KOM climb of the day goes by the name of Alto del 14%, which refers to the steepest ramp of the climb. The average gradient of the 8.4 kilometres long drag sits at 5.3%. A rolling section leads to the downhill before the last 12 kilometres are entirely flat.
The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while the intermediate sprint - at the Alto del 14% summit - comes with 6, 4 and 2 seconds.
