Vuelta 2024: Route and stages

Primoz Roglic won the 79th edition of the Vuelta a España ahead Ben O'Connor and Enric Mas. O'Connor soloed to victory in stage 6 and he held the red jersey for 13 days, until Roglic took the reins at the Alto de Moncalvillo. The 2024 Tour of Spain started on Saturday 17 August in Lisbon and finished on Sunday 8 September in Madrid.

The Route

Vuelta 2024 The Route

The 2024 Vuelta a España kicked off on Saturday 17 August in Lisbon and the race finished on Sunday 8 September in Madrid. What was in between?

Luanco - Lagos de Covadonga

Tuesday 3 September - The 16th stage travels from Luanco on the Asturian coast to the iconic ascent to the Lakes of Covadonga. The 181.3 kilometers long route takes in two intermediate climbs.

Lisbon - Oeiras

Saturday 17 August - The Vuelta a España opens with an individual time trial along the mouth of the Tagus River. The riders set off from Lisbon and finish 12 flat kilometres later in in Oeiras.

Cascais - Ourém

Sunday 18 August - The riders travel on undulating terrain from Cascais to Ourém in the 2nd stage of the Vuelta a España. The route covers 194 kilometres.

Lousã - Castelo Branco

Monday 19 August - At 191.2 kilometres, the 3rd stage of La Vuelta is played out in the Portuguese interior. The riders set off from Lousã to head for the Serra da Estrela before finishing in Castelo Branco.
