Giro 2025 Route stage 8: Giulianova – Castelraimondo

Giro d'Italia 2025Saturday, 17 May – Stage 8 of the Giro d’Italia takes the riders across the challenging roads of the Apennines. The route is 197 kilometres long and features an elevation gain of. 3,700 metres The biggest climbs are far from the finish line, but a punchy wall spices up the finale with 6.5 kilometres to go.

It’s been a while since Castelraimondo last hosted a major cycling race. Ten years ago, Tirreno-Adriatico finished here after an epic stage with a brutal finale. Back then, Wout Poels claimed victory after attacking on the final climb.

That climb rose 4.2 kilometres at an average gradient of 7.3%, with sections up to 15%. From there, the riders descended 6 kilometres to the finish in Castelraimondo.

This time, the last climb of the day is more of a wall. It rises for 700 metres at 9.3% to Gagliole, after which the riders fly down a 6.5 descent into Castelraimondo

Along the way, the riders tackle the Croce di Casale (8.6 kilometres at 4.6%), Valico di Santa Maria Maddalena (13.1 kilometres at 7.4%), Montelago (5.5 kilometres at 4.6%), and the unclassified Castel Santa Maria (300 metres at 7.4%) before arrving at the foot of the climb to Gagliole.

The riders pass through Gagliole with 6.5 kilometres to go – the first 4.5 kilometres are downhill, while the rest is flat.
