Vuelta 2025 Favourites stage 1: For fast men #1

Not that it’s entirely flat, the route takes in 1,300 metres of elevation gain. Climbing kicks off after 64 kilometres, when the peloton tackles a 6.8-kilometre ascent at 5.1%. That shouldn’t trouble any half-decent pro. What’s more, with over 115 kilometres remaining after the summit, there’s plenty of time to recover from any damage.

The route beyond the day’s only climb is gently rolling, before flattening out completely for the final 20 kilometres.

In the Tour, Jasper Philipsen sprinted to the first yellow jersey; there’s every chance he’ll blaze his way into red this time.
