Barring a few insignificant bumps, the rest of the route is virtually flat. So the breakaway should be easy to control, which raises the question: will the GC teams fancy chasing the stage win (and the red jersey), or will they let riders with no overall ambitions off the leash?
You never know in advance, but we’re putting our money on the latter. The break will be given enough leeway to fight for the win, as long as no potential GC threats are involved.
