Race report
There is no lack of attacking spirit, but there's still no breakaway after 40 kilometres. The peloton does split in two at that point, however, and a group of seven riders seizes the moment to jump clear. Tiesj Benoot, Frank van den Broek, Quinn Simmons, Aleksandr Vlasov, Junior Lecerf, Hugo Houle and Felix Engelhardt open up a lead of 3 minutes and 30 seconds, while the pelotons behind come back together.

On the Bürgenstock, the gap has come down to 1 minute as Simmons launches an attack. He is caught by yellow jersey Kévin Vauquelin, Julian Alaphilippe, João Almeida, Oscar Onley and Felix Gall with 2.3 kilometres to climb. Frank van den Broek latches on shortly afterwards.

Gall attacks just 700 metres into the final climb. Almeida, Onley and Vauquelin reel him in just before the flamme rouge, with Alaphilippe latching on 730 metres from the line.

With a sharp acceleration, Vauquelin kicks clear with 400 metres to go. He opens up a decent gap, but lacks the power to hold it to the line. Onley closes him down, while Almeida storms past in the final metres to take the win.

Vauquelin retains the yellow jersey, but Almeida closes in to within 33 seconds.
