Tour de Suisse 2025 Route stage 1: Küssnacht – Küssnacht
Shortly after the start, the riders tackle a 3.8-kilometre climb at 6.1%. A rolling descent and a stretch on the flat then take them to the base of the Michaelskreuz, a 3.8-kilometre ascent with an average gradient of 8.9%. From the summit, the route heads back to the shores of Lake Lucerne and returns to Küssnacht. Interestingly, this opening loop will also serve as the finale.
The riders head east along the lake on flat to gently undulating terrain. After passing through Morschach, the route turns inland and then loops back towards Küssnacht. The race concludes with a repeat of the opening loop – first the 3.8-kilometre climb at 6.1%, followed by the Michaelskreuz: 3.8 kilometres at 8.9%.
The summit is situated 14 kilometres from the finish. Aside from two moderate uphill section, the road descends almost all the way to the line.
In the Tissot kilometre – between kilometre 80.6 and 81.6 – time bonuses of 3, 2 and 1 seconds are up for grabs twice, while 10, 6 and 4 seconds await the first three riders across the line.
