Tour de Suisse 2025 Route stage 3: Aarau - Heiden
During the first hour, the riders travel over flat to gently rolling terrain. The first incline appears at kilometre 57 – a short climb of 1.8 kilometres at 8.5%. After that, the route continues much as before, though a few uphill sections stand out: 3.6 kilometres at 4.2% (at kilometre 91), 1.3 kilometres at 7.1% (at kilometre 113), 1.4 kilometres at 7% (at kilometre 129.5), and 3 kilometres at 5.2% (at kilometre 158). Meanwhile, the route gradually rises from 350 to 960 metres above sea level, which marks the highest point of the day.
From that point, with 32 kilometres remaining, the riders descend into the St. Gallen Rhine Valley before tackling the first KOM climb of the day: 5.1 kilometres at 6.4%.
Following the summit, they descend to the next KOM test – 2.1 kilometres at 6.5% – and then continue on a gently rising road for 4 kilometres. A short 2-kilometre descent leads onto the climb to the finish line in Heiden: 3.4 kilometres long, averaging 5.3%.
The last time the Tour de Suisse visited Heiden was eleven years ago, during Peter Sagan’s reign over the lumpier stages in Switzerland. That day, he comfortably outsprinted Michael Albasini and Sergio Henao.
Between kilometre 130.2 and 131.2 – the designated Tissot kilometre – riders can contest two sprints worth 3, 2 and 1 bonus seconds each. At the finish, 10, 6 and 4 bonus seconds are up for grabs.
