Race report
Lenny Martinez and Jonas Abrahamsen attack from the gun. First Thomas Gachignard, then Kasper Asgreen ride up to the two leaders. The quartet holds a 2-minute lead for much of the day, but their break comes to an end on Côte de Belbeuf. Martinez pushes on alone, but he’s caught just before the Côte de Bonsecours.
At the foot of the Rampe Saint-Hillaire, the peloton is down to some 30 riders. Tadej Pogacar attacks 200 metres from the top, and only Jonas Vingegaard is able to follow. They crest the climb with a 10-second gap.
Remco Evenepoel bridges across with 4 kilometres to go, bringing yellow jersey Mathieu van der Poel, Matteo Jorgenson, João Almeida, and Oscar Onley with him.
Just before the flamme rouge, Jorgenson launches an attack. As the road kicks up, Almeida reels him in. Van der Poel sits on his wheel and opens the sprint, but Pogacar overhaaus him to take the win.
Van der Poel keeps the yellow jersey, albeit in the same time as the World Champion. Vingegaard sits in third, 8 seconds behind the leading duo.
