Race report
Vincenzo Albanese, Jonas Abrahamsen, Mathieu Burgaudeau and Quentin Pacher comprise the day’s breakaway, establishing a lead of 3 minutes.

As the intermediate sprint approaches, the gap drops below 2 minutes. Jonas Abrahamsen takes maximum points, while Jonathan Milan wins the sprint from the peloton.

On the Col du Pertuis, INEOS Grenadiers up the pace and the gap drops to under 1 minute. Meanwhile, Tim Merlier and Jonathan Milan are dropped from the peloton.

The chase lasts for 20 kilometres before the groups come back together. The four attackers have a half-minute’s respite at that point.

On the Col de Tartaiguille, their lead hovers around 1 minute when Wout van Aert sets off alone in pursuit of the breakaway. He closes the gap to 20 seconds, but then realises the effort is in vain and drops back into the peloton.

With 30 kilometres to go, the rain sets in and the gap gradually comes down. Abrahamsen breaks clear of the other three as the gap stands at 20 seconds inside the last 12 kilometres. The Norwegian is caught with 4 kilometres to go.

A crash inside the final kilometre takes down Biniam Girmay, while Tim Merlier is caught behind it. Jonathan Milan is just in front and powers to a dominant victory, with Jordi Meeus finishing on his wheel.

The general classification remains unchanged.
