Giro 2026: Magnier completes hat-trick, Vingegaard retains pink
fotobureau Cor VosDespite the extremely steep Muro di Ca’ del Poggio inside the final 10 kilometres, stage 18 still ends in a bunch sprint. Paul Magnier grabs the opportunity with both hands and powers to his third victory in this Giro. As a bonus, he also takes back the maglia ciclamino. In the general classification, everything remains unchanged, with Jonas Vingegaard still in the lead.

Race report
Despite several attacks, no breakaway has formed after 35 kilometres. Then Andrea Mifsud and Mattia Bais take their chance, and the two teammates have a small advantage for dozens of kilometres before James Shaw joins them. With 106 kilometres to go, Jonas Geens makes it a four-man group at the front.
They build up a maximum lead of just over 2 minutes, but with 20 kilometres to go the move is over for the four riders. Only Jonas Geens continues for a little longer before he is caught at the foot of the Muro di Ca’ del Poggio.
An Afonso Eulálio attack comes to nothing on the climb and he is caught by the GC group just before the summit. Corbin Strong and Orluis Aular are also in the mix, while the peloton — with most of the sprinters on board — is not far behind either.
Inside the final 6 kilometres, Johannes Kulset breaks away and Afonso Eulálio jumps across to him. Behind them, the peloton joins the chase group and brings the two escapees back just before the flamme rouge, setting things up for the fast men.
Jasper Stuyven delivers a perfect lead-out for Paul Magnier in the final kilometres, after which the Frenchman powers to his third stage win in convincing fashion. In doing so, he also reclaims the purple points jersey from Jhonatan Narváez.
The GC remains unchanged, with Jonas Vingegaard still in the lead and Felix Gall and Thymen Arensman holding the other two podium places.
