Giro 2026: Live report stage 12

Giro d'Italia 2026 Today the Giro serves up — not for the first time in this edition — a flat stage with a fair amount of climbing in the middle. And that raises the question: sprinters or attackers? Follow today's action live on Cyclingstage.com.

On a small climb in the opening 10 kilometres, the breakaway forms as Jonas Geens, Jardi Christiaan van der Lee, Juan Pedro López, Mattia Bais and Manuele Tarozzi join forces. They race to a maximum lead of 2 minutes.

With still well over 100 kilometres to go, the gap drops below 1 minute, prompting several riders to bridge across. Johan Jacobs attacks from the group and is joined by Geens, Van der Lee and Tarozzi from the original breakaway, along with Jonas Rutsch and Fredrik Dversnes Lavik. They open up a 2-minute lead as well.

On the Colle Giovo, Movistar set such a strong pace on the front of the peloton that Dylan Groenewegen, Pascal Ackermann and Tobias Lund Andresen are dropped. As a by-product, they also catch the breakaway.

On the Bric Berton, NSN help Movistar set the pace on the front of the peloton, causing Casper van Uden and Paul Magnier to lose contact, while Jonathan Milan is dropped in the last kilometre of the climb.

Van Uden, Magnier and Milan come back together before cresting the summit 1 minute behind the peloton. They have several teammates with them, so the chase can begin, but they do not gain a single second.
