Giro 2026: Vingegaard triumphs at Corno alle Scale, Eulálio retains pink
fotobureau Cor VosThe Corno alle Scale is insanely steep in the final 3 kilometres. No sooner are they on that section than Felix Gall attacks and Jonas Vingegaard goes with him. They catch attacker Giulio Ciccone, after which the Dane continues alone in the final kilometre. He takes his second stage win of the Giro, while Afonso Eulálio keeps the pink jersey.

Race report
Lorenzo Milesi, Davide Ballerini and Edward Planckaert are the first riders to open a gap. They build it out to half a minute, and for several kilometres it fluctuates around that mark, while the attacks keep flying behind them.
After 30 kilometres, Planckaert calls it a day at the front before Jonas Geens, Martin Marceluzzi, Einer Rubio, Tim Naberman, Mattia Bais and Sakarias Koller Løland take his place. The gap then goes out to more than 2 minutes.
With 75 kilometres to go, Giulio Ciccone launches the chase with Diego Ulissi and Toon Aerts in his wheel. The three make the catch 15 kilometres later.
The eleven attackers start the climb to Querciola 2 minutes and 24 seconds ahead of the peloton. Before long, only Ciccone, Ulissi, Milesi, Rubio and Aerts remain out front.
The eleven attackers start the climb to Querciola 2 minutes and 24 seconds ahead of the peloton. Before long, only Ciccone, Ulissi, Milesi, Rubio and Aerts remain out front, and as they pass through the village they still have around a 2-minute advantage.
Ciccone attacks with just under 12 kilometres to go and Rubio jumps onto his wheel. When the Italian accelerates again inside the final 7.5 kilometres, he is on his own.
Just before the start of the steep final 3-kilometre section, Giulio Pellizzari is dropped from the GC group. Once on the steep ramps, Felix Gall attacks and Jonas Vingegaard follows him like a shadow. They quickly catch Rubio and reel in Ciccone inside the final 1.8 kilometres.
The two best riders in the Giro drop the attacker and, after Gall has been setting the pace at the front, Vingegaard launches the decisive attack just after the flamme rouge. He takes his second win in three days, while Afonso Eulálio finishes fifth to keep the pink jersey with a margin of well over 2 minutes.
