Race report
From a flurry of attacks, Maaike Coljé, Marion Borras, Magdalene Lind, Marina Garau and Ariana Gilabert prevail to form the breakaway. They put 3 minutes into the peloton.
With 36 kilometres remaining and the gap down to half a minute, Coljé attacks — only Lind and Garau can stay with her. Their effort proves short-lived, with the trio being caught just a few kilometres down the road.
Femke Gerritse wins the intermediate sprint in Tramaced ahead of Marianne Vos, putting her in the virtual GC lead.
In the final phase, the peloton goes wild and splinters, before regrouping inside the final 16 kilometres.
Anna van der Breggen and Mischa Bredewold provide a perfect lead-out for Gerritse on behalf of SD Worx-Protime. Launching from Bredewold’s wheel, she fends off a charging Vos to turn her virtual leader’s jersey into the real thing
