In fact, almost straight from the gun the riders tackle the Alt de la Creu de L’Aragall – a 10.2 kilometre climb at an average gradient of 4.1%. The rest of the stage undulates, but no more mountain points are up for grabs.
There’s a good chance the sprinters will battle it out for the stage win – and possibly the leader’s jersey – in Sant Boi de Llobregat.
Last year’s Vuelta Femenina featured just one full bunch sprint, which was won by Marianne Vos. Two other stages ended in reduced bunch sprints, with Alison Jackson taking one and Vos the other.
