Vuelta Femenina 2025: The Route
The Vuelta Femenina starts on Sunday with a TTT and finishes the following Saturday with a brutal mountain stage. A second summit finish, a hilly race, and plenty of opportunities for sprinters complete the route. The red caravan travels from east to west through northern Spain.
La Vuelta Femenina opens with a flat 8.1-kilometre team time trial in Barcelona. The start and finish are at Casa Milà, and the turnaround point is located before the Palau Reial de Pedralbes on Avinguda Diagonal.
Stage 2 takes the peloton through the Alt Penedès region, but there doesn’t seem to be much that could stop a sprint finish. The only categorized climb comes just 12 kilometres into the stage.
Stage 3 sets up more of the same. This route doesn’t feature any climbs, though crosswinds could play a role on the exposed roads between Barbastro and Huesca.
Stage 4 is tailor-made for attackers. The riders tackle the Moncayo and El Buste, with the final summit just 12 kilometres from the finish. That section is all downhill.
The GC riders should come to the fore in the 5th stage, as it offers two climbs in the last 30 kilometres. The race finishes uphill at Las Lagunas de Neila, a 6.8-kilometre climb with an average gradient of 8.7%.
Stage 6 looks to be a sprinter’s stage. Although the last 20 kilometres aren’t exactly flat, there seems to be little that could prevent a sprint finish.
The final stage promises to be a tough one, with 2,880 metres of elevation gain over 152.6 kilometres. After initial climbs on the Alto de la Colladona (5.5 kilometres at 7.4%) and the Alto de la Colladiella (6.4 kilometres at 8.2%), the finish is situated atop the Alto de Cotobello – a 10.3-kilometre slog with an average gradient of 8%.
