Race report
Samudio Carlos, Biagini Federico and Tarozzi Manuele are the first attackers on the UAE Tour. It's instant bingo, and they're quickly riding away with a 2-minute lead. But... that's all they get.
With 10 kilometres to go, Tarozzi is caught as the last attacker, and from there, it's up to the sprinters.
But not just any sprinters, as the road ramps up by 4.4% in the final 1.5 kilometres. Only Jonathan Milan and Jasper Philipsen are tough enough to stay ahead of the punchers. Of the two, Milan proves the strongest, taking the first leader's jersey of the UAE Tour.
