UAE Tour 2025 Route stage 3: Ras Al Khaimah - Jebel Jais
It’s the first time the UAE Tour visits Ras Al Khaimah, the capital of the emirate of the same name. However, the Dubai Tour finished here in 2017, with Marcel Kittel taking the win.
The UAE Tour’s 3rd stage starts in Ras Al Khaimah, and one thing is for sure – a sprinter won’t be winning today. The riders speed across flat desert roads before reaching the base of Jebel Jais, where they’ll face a 21.1-kilometre climb at 5.4%.
The gradient on Jebel Jais sits between 4-5% in the first half, increasing to 5-7% in the second. The steepest section is 9%, appearing 2 kilometres from the line, followed by a final stretch averaging 7.1%.
This will be the sixth time a pro peloton climbs the Jebel Jais highway. Primoz Roglic (2019), Jonas Vingegaard (2021), and Tadej Pogaar (2022) were the first three winners, each taking victory from a relatively compact group.
In 2023, we finally saw some fireworks on Jebel Jais. With 11 kilometres to go, Movistar’s Albert Torres and Einer Rubio launched a duo attack. Rubio then went solo, putting 1 minute into the peloton over the next 5 kilometres – enough to secure his first-ever pro win.
Last year, Ben O’Connor and his teammate Valentin Paret-Peintre launched a duo attack too, but with 1.2 kilometres to go. The Australian finished the job, taking the win 5 seconds ahead of the chasing group.
The first three riders at the finish bag 10, 6, and 4 bonus seconds, while the intermediate sprints offer 3, 2, and 1 seconds.
