Vuelta 2025 Route stage 21: Alalpardo - Madrid

Vuelta a España 2025Sunday, 14 September - The Vuelta a España wraps up with several laps through the centre of Madrid. It’s almost certain to end in a bunch sprint. The final stage of the Spanish Grand Tour spans 101 kilometres.

With the overall winner already decided, the focus shifts to the fight for a prestigious stage victory in Madrid to fight for. Over the past decade, Stefan Küng (2024), Kaden Groves (2023), Sebastián Molano (2022), Pascal Ackermann (2020), Fabio Jakobsen (2019), Elia Viviani (2018), Matteo Trentin (2017), Magnus Cort (2016), and John Degenkolb (2015) have all claimed victories in Madrid. Küng did so in a time trial, while the others triumphed in sprints.

After the start in Alalpardo, a village just north of Madrid, the race finishes on a 5.8-kilometre circuit in the Spanish capital. This provides sprinters with ample opportunity to familiarise themselves with the finish. The loop takes in the Paseo del Prado, Paseo de Recoletos, Calle de Alcalá, and the Gran Vía, before concluding at the Plaza de Cibeles.
