Vuelta 2025 Route stage 3: San Maurizio Canavese - Ceres

Vuelta a España 2025Monday, 25 August - The 3rd stage of the Vuelta a España takes the riders from San Maurizio Canavese to Ceres. The hilly course spans 134.6 kilometres with nearly 2,000 metres of elevation gain.

San Maurizio Canavese is the birthplace of a legend: Giovanni Giuseppe Brunero, born in 1895. He won the Giro d’Italia three times, the Tour of Lombardy twice, and Milan-San Remo once.

After the start in San Maurizio Canavese, the riders embark on a large northern loop. The first 60 kilometres are virtually flat, and then they face the Puerto Issaglio, a 5.5-kilometre climb at 6.5%. Directly following the descent, the road rises again with a 2.6-kilometre climb 5.3% to Prascorsano. The ascend to Corio adds another 1.8-kilometre at 5.7% to the lumpy mix.

After descending, and with roughly 24 kilometres remaining, the riders are nearly back at the starting point. But instead of returning and finishing in Giovanni Brunero’s birthplace, the route heads westward over a long stretch of false flat. In the final 2.6 kilometres, the gradient increases to an average of 3.6%, gradually steepening towards the finish, with a 7% section at 400 metres to go.

The first three riders across the line gain 10, 6 and 4 bonus seconds, while the intermediate sprint carries 6, 4 and 2 seconds.
