Vuelta 2025 Route stage 8: Monzón Templario - Zaragoza

Vuelta a España 2025Saturday, 30 August - With 1,236 metres of elevation gain, the 8th stage of La Vuelta isn’t flat in the strictest sense. Still, it’s highly likely that a sprinter will be celebrating at the end of the 163.5-kilometre ride from Monzón Templario to Zaragoza.

There are no KOM points on offer along the route. The elevation gain comes from the gentle rolling terrain of the expansive landscape south of the Pyrenees.

The last time the Vuelta finished in Zaragoza, the race approached from Olvéga, roughly 100 kilometres west of the city. This time, the riders are coming in from the east. It shouldn’t make any difference to the outcome – a sprint finish is the most likely scenario in Spain’s fourth-largest city.

The race concludes with a 23.4-kilometre local lap.

Two years ago, Sebastián Molano claimed victory in the streets of Zaragoza, besting Kaden Groves and Boy Van Poppel in a bunch sprint.

The first three riders across the line gain 10, 6 and 4 bonus seconds, while the intermediate sprint carries 6, 4 and 2 seconds.
