image: Cor VosLa Vuelta goes mainly downhill on the twelfth day of action. Starting venue Olvega is situated almost 1,000 metres above sea level and the finish is 800 metres lower in Zaragoza. Sorry, that’s not correct. There is another climb – 2.2 kilometres at 5.6% – in the first hour. Which will obviously have no impact on the outcome. The route totals 865 metres of uphill climbing, while twice of much is on descent.
Long story short: it’s going to be a sprint in Zaragoza.
Winning two stages, Groves is the stellar sprinter on La Vuelta. Soupe was the surprise winner of stage 7.
