The winner in Madrid succeeds Sebastián Molano (2022), Pascal Ackermann (2020), Fabio Jakobsen (2019), Elia Viviani (2018), Matteo Trentin (2017), Magnus Cort (2016), John Degenkolb (2015, 2012), Michael Matthews (2013) and Peter Sagan (2011).

So Molano took the spoils last year. Which was rather special, as he actually was the lead-out for Ackermann. But when the German did not come across, the Colombian seized the opportunity and decided to go for it himself. And successfully so. He is the sprint leader of UAE Emirates on this Vuelta.

Winning two stages, Groves is the stellar sprinter on La Vuelta, while Molano, Soupe and Dainese took one victory.
