Vuelta 2023: Withdrawals
fotobureau Cor VosOn Saturday 26 August a peloton of 176 riders embarked on edition 78 of La Vuelta - 28 of them did not reach the finish line in Madrid.
La Vuelta lasted just a few kilometres for Laurens De Plus. The Belgian crashed in the rain-soaked team time trial in Barcelona and pulled out with an injury to his right hip. Young Briton Oscar Onley hit the deck the next day and he abandoned with a broken collar bone.

Last year's Vuelta started with 182 riders and 48 of them did not make it to Madrid. A lot of riders pulled out after a postive COVID19 test, while title defender Primoz Roglic crashed out in the finale of stage 16.
