On paper, the route suits title defender Remco Evenepoel's characteristics just perfectly. With ten classified climbs – and a host of non-KOM tests - the route is similar to Liège-Bastogne-Liège, the Wallonian Monument in which he prevailed majestically, both this season as last season. That said, it's a stage in a Grand Tour, which comes with a different dynamic.
