Tour of Valencia 2024 Route stage 4: Teulada Moraira - Vall d'Ebo
The route includes five ascents, the first of which appears after roughly 40 kilometres. The Puerto de Benimantell is 8.3 kilometres long and averages 5.3%, although that statistic says nothing. The gradients go all over the place, with the fifth and eigth kilometres standing out - these rise at roughly 12%. Moreover, there is hardly any descent after the summit and it doesn't take long before the Puerto de Confrides adds 7 more kilometres to the mix. Luckily for the riders this is a fairly steady climb at 5%.
The race is 60 kilometres underway at the summit of the Puerto de Confrides. A descent leads to the base of the Puerto de la Cabaña, a minor climb, which also goes for the Puerto de Tollos roughly 20 kilometres later.
A 45 kilometres descent from an elevation of 800 metres to 70 metres above sea level acts as the calm before the storm, which is expected to gather on the last climb of the day. The Alto del Miserat hardly exceeds 5 kilometres, but the average gradient is monstrous - 10.5% -, while the steepest ramps rise at 20%. The road continues to go up and down after the summit before a short downhill precedes the 1.9 final kilometres with an average gradient of 7.4%.
[During the race the finish is relocated to the summit of the Miserat due to a fatality near the original finish line.]
The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while the intermediate sprint comes with 3, 2 and 1 seconds.
