Tour of Valencia 2024 Route stage 2: Canals - Simat de la Valldigna

Tour of Valencia 2024 Thursday 1 February - Stage 2 of the Tour of Valencia is a test of 163.4 kilometres between Canals and Simat de la Valldigna. Although the route is far from flat, a sprint finish is the most likely outcome.

The riders clip into their pedals in Canals, a place in inland Valencia province somewhere halfway between Calpe and Valencia city. Shortly the first obstacle takes the shape of the Alto de Genoves, which is a modest climb of 2.9 kilometres at 5.2%. On rolling roads the route continues until a long descent leads to Real de Gandía, close to the coast.

The La Drova climb takes the riders back inland on a 10.4 kilometres test with an average gradient of 3.4%, although the second half is much steeper than that. Following the descent and a virtually flat loop, the Alto Pla de Corrals presents the last uphill gradients of the day. It's a long ascent for sure, but the gradients are so shallow that sprinters should be able to stick with the peloton. The last 5 kilometres go up at 3.9% before a technical descent into Simat de la Valldigna wraps things up.

The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while the intermediate sprint comes with 3, 2 and 1 seconds.
