Tour of Valencia 2024: The Route

Tour Down Under 2024 The Tour of Valencia will finish coming Sunday in Valencia city. Following three hilly stages - suited for either sprinters or attackers -, the Queen Stage takes place on the fourth day of action. Stage 5 is virtually the same as last year's final stage, in which Rui Costa turned the GC upside down.

The 1st stage travels from coastal town Benicàssim to Castellón. The route takes in three climbs, the last of which - Desierto de las Palmas, 8 kilometres at 5.2% - is crested with 16 kilometres left to race.

Stage 2 is similar. Also three climbs underway, but since the last one is more of an extended false flat the sprinters should be able to stick with the peloton. A technical descent to the finish line wraps things up.

A huge climb halfway through is the most memorable fact in the 3rd stage. It's a long drag and especially steep near the end, but since the summit lies almost 70 kilometres from the finish line, this could also be an opportunity for the fast men.

Stage 4 most certainly not. The route takes in five intermediate climbs before a 1.9 kilometres uphill drag finishes things off. The preceding climb - Alto del Miserat - is 5.1 kilometres long and averages 10.5% before a lumpy plateau leads to the uphill finale at 7.4%.

The 5th stage is virtually a carbon copy of last year's final race, in which Rui Costa turned the GC upside down. That race ignited on the Port del Garbí, which is a tough climb - 5.4 kilometres at 8.9% -, although there are still 45 kilometres left to race at the summit. The rest of the route is flat, which didn't prevent a mesmerizing finale of the 2023 edition.
