Tour de France Femmes 2026 Route stage 9: Nice - Nice
First published 28 July 2026
For: climbers and attackers
Key feature: GC could easily be turned upside down on this course
The riders clip in on the Promenade des Anglais along the Mediterranean coast, while the official start takes place on Boulevard de Riquier. The flag has barely dropped before it is time for the first ascent of the Col d’Èze. It starts off steeply, with gradients of 7.7% and 8.5% in the first 2 kilometres. Some 3 kilometres in, the riders reach a false-flat section of around 2 kilometres. The gradient then ramps up again, but the climbing is essentially over with 1,600 metres to go before the summit, allowing the riders to pick up plenty of speed.
Shortly after cresting, the riders turn right for a short, steep descent towards the medieval town of Èze. From there, they join the main road and fly back towards Nice.
They follow that same route three times before deviating from it on the fourth and final lap, taking a shorter and steeper route up the Col d’Èze. Whereas the climb is 7.7 kilometres at 5.9% on the first three occasions, it is now 6 kilometres at 7.6%. The third kilometre is particularly brutal, averaging 12.3%.
After reaching the Col des Quatre Chemins, they rejoin the earlier route and head towards Èze high above the Mediterranean. First comes that steep descent and then the riders speed towards the finish, which is located at the start venue, on the Promenade des Anglais along the Mediterranean coast.
