Tour de France Femmes 2026 Route stage 2: Aigle - Geneva

Sunday 2 August – The 2nd stage of the Tour de France Femmes features a hilly middle section, while the opening and closing sections are flat. The 147.9-kilometre race from Aigle to Geneva serves up more than 1,700 metres of elevation gain.

The riders follow the shores of Lake Geneva at the beginning and end of the stage. In the hilly middle section, they leave the lakeside and take a sweeping arc through the hinterland, passing above Lausanne, the start and finish town of stage 1.

The route remains flat as far as Saint-Sapherin, after which, 30 kilometres into the stage, the riders climb for 3.2 kilometres at 5.6% to Chexbres. There is no reward in the form of a descent. Instead, the road continues to rise steadily until the second climb, the Côte de Savigny, adds another 2.5 kilometres at 5%.

The route stays at altitude for another 6 kilometres before a long, gradual descent to Penthalaz. There, the road starts climbing again: 2 kilometres at 6% to Cossonay. Again, there is no descent. The route continues over rolling roads for around 20 kilometres before the riders are confronted with a proper wall. The Côte de Bougy-Villars is only 900 metres long and averages a punishing 10.4%. Immediately after the descent to Monts-sur-Rolles, the road climbs for 2.3 kilometres at 6.5%, after which, with more than 47 kilometres remaining, the climbing is done for the day.

The remainder of the route is not completely flat, though. Initially, the riders continue over rolling roads, but as the finish approaches, the terrain becomes increasingly flat.
