Tour de Femmes 2026 Stage 1: Wiebes powers to first yellow jersey

Race report
Maud Rijnbeek and Idoia Eraso form the first breakaway of the Tour, after which Nikola Nosková and Océane Mahe make it four at the front. They carve out a 6-minute lead.

Océane Mahe takes the maximum mountains points on the Côte de Châbles and the Côte de Villars-le-Comte, before Nosková gets the better of her on the Côte de Vulliens. The Czech rider immediately sets off on a solo move, which lasts for tens of kilometres.

Upon reaching the shores of Lake Geneva, Nosková is joined by Rijnbeek, Eraso and Amanda Spratt, who has attacked clear of the peloton. The peloton finally hauls in the quartet with 6 kilometres left.

Célia Gery launches an attack on the steepest section of the final climb, but she fails to break clear. Demi Vollering then ups the pace as the gradient eases in the closing stages, and even that fails to trouble Lorena Wiebes. The Dutch powerhouse launches her sprint with 250 metres to go and wins by a bike length.

Demi Vollering finishes third to claim four bonus seconds, while Paula Blasi, Anna van der Breggen, Isabella Holmgren and Antonia Niedermaier cross the line 8 seconds later, which is far from ideal given their yellow jersey ambitions. Dominika Włodarczyk fares even worse, as the Polish rider ships 37 seconds.
