Tour of Valencia 2025 Route stage 2: La Nucia - Font de Partegat
It may still be early in the race, but the 2nd stage of the Tour of Valencia is set to be crucial in the battle for the overall victory. That said, the early part of the race doesn’t seem too demanding. After 25 kilometres, the riders crest a 5.7-kilometre climb at 4%, but other than that, the terrain is flat to rolling. The lion's share of the elevation gain is saved for the last 50 kilometres.
First up is the Coll de Rates, a 5.3-kilometre ascent at 5.3%. The riders stay at altitude for about 7 kilometres before descending towards the decisive action. Tension rises while rolling for 10 kilometres on undulating roads to Polop, just north of the start town La Nucia, before the climb to Benimantell throws in 5.5 kilometres at an average gradient of 7%. A solid warm-up for the brutal finale.
A short descent follows before the contenders take on La Font de Partegat, a monster of 4.3 kilometres at 9.5%. The steepest section, at 15.6%, comes just before the finish line.
The first three riders across the line earn 10, 6, and 4 bonus seconds, while 3, 2, and 1 seconds are up for grabs at the intermediate sprint.
