Race report
Pascal Eenkhoorn is the first attacker of the day, but without success. After a nervous phase, Robert Stannard, Fabio Van den Bossche and Baptiste Veistroffer open up a gap of more than 1 minute, but they too are reeled back in. Pepijn Reinderink, Jefferson Alexander Cepeda and Luke Plapp then give it a go, with Damien Howson and Enzo Paleni joining them - yet, once again, the move does not last long.

Eventually, the breakaway does take shape. Reinderink rides clear with Plapp and Stannard to build a 2-minute advantage, before Pavel Novak makes it a quartet. With four, they double their lead over the peloton.

In the final lap, Stannard is the only remaining rider from that group. His new companions are Javier Romo, Santiago Buitrago, Jefferson Alexander Cepeda and Gal Glivar. Their advantage is never significant, and in the final kilometre Buitrago, Cepeda and Glivar are the last attackers to be caught.

Matthew Brennan takes control of the sprint in Stirling, while Jay Vine secures his second overall victory in the Tour Down Under.
