Tour Down Under 2026 Route stage 1: Tanunda - Tanunda

Tour Down Under 2026Wednesday 21 January - The riders tackle 120.6 mostly flat kilometres through the vineyards around Tanunda before finishing along Murray Street. The 2.1-kilometre Menglers Hill features three times, with the last ascent coming with 13 kilometres left to race.

The riders tackle four clockwise loops through Tanunda. First a big one, followed by three smaller ones. Menglers Hill, with its 3.9% gradient, adds the only ascent of the day. It is part of the smaller loop, so Menglers Hill is tackled three times.

Tanunda is sprinters’ territory. The last three winners in the wine town are Sam Welsford (2025, 2024), Phil Bauhaus (2023), and Sam Bennet (2020).

The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while the intermediate sprints come with 3, 2 and 1 seconds.
