Race report
Matthew Greenwood and KOM leader Martin Urianstad Ugge go on the attack early in the race, but fail to establish a break. Greenwood then tries again, this time with Rémi Cavagna and Luke Plapp. Not long afterwards, defending champion Jhonatan Narváez hits the deck and is forced to abandon.

The trio go on to form the break of the day and also share out the mountain points. Not that Urianstad Ugge will mind: the Norwegian secures the mountains classification regardless.

Although Plapp is virtual race leader at a certain moment in the race, that scenario no longer applies by the final lap. Cavagna is reeled in first, with the remaining two also caught well before the finish.

In the sprint, Ethan Vernon proves to be in a class of his own. He wins the slightly uphill finish several bike lengths ahead of Tobias Lund Andresen and Laurence Pithie, while Jay Vine retains the leader’s jersey. With Narváez out of the race, Mauro Schmid moves up to second overall, more than 1 minute behind the Australian.
