Tour de Romandie 2025 Route stage 1: Münchenstein – Fribourg

Tour de Romandie 2025 Wednesday. 30 April – Stage 1 of the Tour de Romandie covers 194.6 kilometres on a route between Münchenstein to Fribourg. The riders face 3,200 metres of elevation gain on the way to a punchy finish.

A hilly opener ends with a 2.8-kilometre climb at 6% to Grindel. The route then flattens out for a while before rising gradually towards the middle part of the race. That section features three climbs within 28 kilometres: the Mont-Crosin (2.4 kilometres at 6.9%), the Col des Pontins (4 kilometres at 6.5%), and the punishing climb to Chaumont (3 kilometres at 11.9%).

At the summit in Chaumont, still 95.9 kilometres remain. A descent follows, after which the route stays mostly flat for several dozen kilometres. From 25 kilometres out, the road begins to undulate again, leading into an intriguing finale. First it heads downhill, then immediately uphill – 1 kilometre at 6.7% -, before levelling out just after the flamme rouge.

Although the finale was different, last year's Tour de Romandie also finished in Fribourg. That stage ended in a bunch sprint, won by Dorian Godon.

The first thee riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds.
