Tour de France 2025 Favourites stage 8: For fast finishers #3

Jonathan Milan - Tour de France 2025 Favourites stage 8: For fast finishers #3foto: Cor VosStage 8 of the Tour packs in 1,700 metres of climbing, which is all gently dispersed across the route. With gradients never steeper than 3.8%, it would take an unlikely twist for the sprinters not to be battling it out in Laval. (Slideshow route/profile)

That 900-metre section at 3.8% is the Côte de Nuillé-sur-Vicoin. The riders crest it with 16.4 kilometres remaining.

As for the rest of the stage, there’s not much to say. It’s largely flat, with the occasional gentle rise.

The finale is straightforward too. After a 180-degree turn around a roundabout, the road heads arrow-straight for the final 3 kilometres. The run-in rises ever so slightly in the final kilometre.

In the first bunch sprint of this Tour, Merlier edged out Milan.
