Tour de France 2025 Favourites stage 17: For fast finishers #7

Tim Merlier uae - Tour de France 2025 Favourites stage 17: For fast finishers #7foto: Cor VosStage 17 of the Tour is expected to be the final opportunity for the fast men. The route from Bollène to Valence features 1,650 metres of elevation over 160.4 kilometres, while the last climb comes well before the finish. (Slideshow route/profile)

In truth, the Col de Pertuis — 3.7 kilometres at 6.6% — is the only real climb of the day. The riders crest it with 94.1 kilometres to go.

After that, the second KOM, Col de Tartaiguille, is little more than an extended false flat: 3.6 kilometres at 3.5%. There are still 43.4 kilometres remaining at the ‘top’, but even if that hill came right at the end, it shouldn’t trouble any pro.

If anything, it’s not the gradients the sprinters need to worry about — it’s the wind. The route cuts through the Rhône Valley, where crosswinds can be a real threat.
