Tirreno-Adriatico 2025 Route stage 5: Ascoli Piceno - Pergola

Tirreno-Adriatico 2025Friday, 14 March – The 5th stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico is a relentless up-and-down affair. The climbs are never particularly long, but there are plenty of them. Over the 196 kilometres between Ascoli Piceno and Pergola, the riders rack up nearly 3,500 metres of elevation gain, before the race wraps up with a descent to the finish.

Right from the start, the road rises gently towards the first proper climb. At 7.8 kilometres with an average gradient of 4.5%, the Croce di Casale is the longest ascent of the day.

And that sets the tone. The riders spend the entire stage hopping from one climb to the next. There are too many to list, but a few stand out: the climbs to Rustici (2.2 kilometres at 5.5%), just before San Severino Marche (3 kilometres at 5.4%), just before Castel San Pietro (4.1 kilometres at 5.3%), and to Santa Marciana (4.4 kilometres at 6.1%). Then there’s the Monte Santa Croce (3.4 kilometres at 8.8%) and Monte della Serra (4.7 kilometres at 6.6%) in the final 20 kilometres.

The Monte Santa Croce has an extra sting, with its last 1.7 kilometres ramping up to 10.2%, while the Monte della Serra is the opposite as it starts off steep, with 1.9 kilometres at 8.9%.

The summit of the Monte della Serra comes 7.6 kilometres before the finish in Pergola. From the summit, it’s all downhill.

The first three riders across the line gain 10, 6, and 4 bonus seconds, while 3, 2, and 1 seconds are up for grabs at the intermediate sprint.
