Volta ao Algarve 2025 Route stage 4: Albufeira - Faro

Volta ao Algarve 2025 Saturday, 21 February - Stage 4 is a demanding hilly race from Albufeira to Faro. Covering 175.2 kilometres with over 2,500 metres of elevation gain, the final climb is crested 17 kilometres before the finish. From there, the route descends towards an uphill finish.

Without featuring any long climbs, the route goes up and down all day. Right after the start, the riders climb and descend their way from 100 metres above sea level to 500 metres. Then, after 40 kilometres, they face a short but steep climb of 2.2 kilometres at 9%, before remaining at altitude for tens of kilometres.

After approximately 90 kilometres, the route descends to roughly 200 metres above sea level, but the profile remains largely unchanged. Up and down, up and down… up and down, up and down… up and down, up and down.

With 23.4 kilometres to go, the intermediate sprint in Santa Bárbara comes after a 2.8-kilometre climb at 4%. A few kilometres later, the road kicks up again for 700 metres at 5.1%, before the riders descend towards the flat run-in leading to the short uphill to the line.
